On the 24th of February 2021, the Buddhist Society of Oslo and Viken was founded by Jon Endre Mørk and Ajahn Nitho in Oslo. This happened because Ajahn Nitho many months earlier, decided to return to Norway, and continue as a senior monk in Norway.

But it was only when Jon Endre got in touch, after finding Ajahn Nitho’s website, that the idea of establishing a new society arose. The BSWA in West-Australia was the inspiration – which has a structure and a foundation that is suitable for a western country.

The society is a long-term project, and has been given a really good focus on teaching and practice, inspired by early Buddhism, and the forest tradition from which Ajahn Nitho has his background.
