Both spring and autumn

2024 was the first year we organized a large retreat in the autumn in Norway, because so many people come to us for peace, inspiration and spiritual development in a good setting. Already now, six months before the upcoming spring retreat in 2025 with the instructors Canda/Nitho, we have passed 60 pre-registered participants, which is why we tested out the large fireplace hall as a teaching hall this time. We’ve already reserved time at Venabu for next fall’s retreat, and now the hunt for an instructor begins…
The instructor

Bhante Sujato from Australia was the instructor for this retreat – a well-known figure in Buddhism, with a strong focus on the Buddha’s original teachings and an advocate for equal opportunities for women and men. He is one of the leaders behind suttacentral.net, which publishes the entire Buddhist teachings for free in the public domain.
A lot of his teachings during this retreat are published in our podcast dnbf enigma – feel free to listen here on this website, or with your podcast app!
Mindfulness is not really meditation, but can be used as a type of meditation where we simply are aware of what is happening in your body and mind.
You start to notice what is happening: thoughts, feelings, sensations, memories, ideas, desires – and spaces between them. The aim to get a place where we are resonable equanimous, as a preperation for other types of meditation.
Just remember that ethical behavior is the fundation of any meditation, just beeing a good person.
This teaching was given during a retreat at Venabu in October 2024:

Buddhy Bear

The society’s mascot, Buddhy Bear, had happily posed in advance to illustrate the plan for the retreat: We had found an instructor in a brown robe, so as soon as he arrived in Norway he was to be given food, then giving him rest, so that he could inspire with smile and energy, all the participants and our eager podcast listeners. And if the snow came early, he could try skiing for the first time in his life. After seven days of inspiration, Buddhy wrote the following summary with his paws:
Peace begins with a hug and soft paws – embrace the present! Breathe deep, hug tight, live light!
Nature in the mountains

As normal, the nature was shining at Venabu during the retreat…
