One of the founders of our sister organization in Finland, Mikko Asunta, has now completed a one-year anagarika (trainee) period, and now wants to start his training full-time as a samanera. This means that he is now picking up a simple lifestyle and the brown robe − a lifestyle that is optimized for spiritual training and development. If he completes the training as a samanera, he will become a bhikkhu in one year.

If you want to see or follow Mikko’s ordination, join online:

Living a life as a samanera or bhikkhu, which is called samaneri and bhikkhuni for women, has many advantages:

  • The lifestyle sets a high ethical standard, and means that the mind is free from remorse and a guilty conscience − you know you are living a good life
  • The lifestyle creates a sufficient restraint in a calm environment, which makes the mindfulness stronger, which in turn opens up the opportunity to work with negative mental states, and build up positive mental states
  • The lifestyle is defined to allow for very deep states of meditation that have a very uplifting effect, which in turn creates mental clarity.
  • Such an uplifted and clear mind is used to develop wisdom and understanding of our own nature, which creates a permanently beautiful mind.
  • In reality, a training towards happiness, wisdom and freedom.

We wish Mikko the best of luck with his training!
