7 Day Meditation Retreat Venabu − private cabin

Welcome to the meditation retreat at Venabu from 19th to 26th of April 2026.
We continue the success of the last three years! As of today, 125 people have expressed interest, so this retreat will also be full this year, to the great joy of us who organize and for the participants. The price will be 8.300 NOK (720 EUR) for your own cabin, which corresponds to approximately the cost price of the retreat. To secure your place, you must book and pay a minimum deposit, and then the rest no later than 4 weeks before the retreat starts.
The registration on this page applies to your own cabin with bath/shower, but without food, youbring your own bed linen, and final cleaning is required. The cabins have a kitchen, so you can provide food yourself, or buy food at Venabu. See the prices for food and other services further down the page.
The instructors have the instructor job full-time, live on gifts and receive no salary. In addition, all work in the society is based on volunteer work. We are therefore very grateful if you support the society as much as you can when registering, to cover operating and development costs.

Description
Time: From Sunday 19th to 26th of April 2026. Starts at lunch at 12.00 on the first day, departure after lunch on the last day.
Location: Venabu Fjellhotell, Rondevegen 860, 2632 Venabygd.
Language: All teaching will be in English, but private interviews can be done in Norwegian.
Price: A total of 8 300 NOK (720 EUR) for your own cabin, you can first pay a deposit of 2000 NOK and then the rest 4 weeks before the retreat starts.
Arrival the day beforeFor those who wish to arrive the day before, book directly with Venabu Fjellhotell, it costs 450 NOK (38 EUR) for accommodation and breakfast in a private room. Dinner is served in the evening for an additional fee. If you want to spend the night in the cabin the day before, contact Venabu directly.
Pick-up service: If you are taking the train, Ringebu has a pick-up service at the station. It can be booked directly at Venabu Fjellhotell.
Transport: Each individual must provide transport to and from themselves, but we help to connect those who have their own transport with those who do not.
Food: Vegetarian with eggs and milk.
Age: The minimum age for participation is 18 years.

Extra services
The price of NOK 8,300 for your own cabin with bath/shower, is without food, you can bring your own bed linen (the cabin has a duvet and pillow), and you do the final cleaning yourself. The cabin/hut has a kitchen, so you can cook your own food, and there is a Kiwi grocery store about 900 meters from Venabu. You can still buy extra services from Venabu:
- Final cleaning cabin NOK 600
- Bed linen NOK 220
- Towels NOK 60
- All meals NOK 620 per day, or breakfast only NOK 190, dinner NOK 290, evening snack NOK 190.
Medicine and health
If you have a physical illness, remember to bring the necessary medication. Meditation cannot replace medicine. If you have a physical illness that is made worse by long periods of sitting or walking, you should check with your doctor before signing up.
If you have a mental illness, you must clarify it with Ajahn Nitho and your healthcare provider before registration. Meditation cannot replace therapy or medication, and a retreat is not a place where you can stop or adjust medication.
Registration
You register by pressing the “Book” button at the top of this page. Your registration is valid once we have received your payment.
IMPORTANT: For those who have paid the deposit or full participation fee of NOK 8,300, and then withdraw from the retreat, even after the retreat has started, for any reason (including illness), the amount will be refunded if the society finds another person, for example from the retreat’s waiting list. Otherwise, we recommend travel insurance to remove the risk if you have to withdraw, for example due to illness, and the society cannot find someone to take your place.
IMPORTANT: According to Norwegian law, you have a 14-day cancellation periode for services purchased over the internet. This then applies 14 days after registration, or until the service is delivered – i.e. when the retreat begins.
