Troubleshooting breath meditation | EN | Venerable Canda | Venabu 2026

This talk is a review of the Buddha's teachings on breath meditation based on the Anapanasati Sutta. It also works like a troubleshooting guide that highlights the various problems and solutions at each step.

Breath meditation is a process that first starts with a focus on the body, then on feelings, then on the mind, and then developing wisdom. All of these stages have their challenges, and Venerable Canda mentions many solutions to various problems so that you can deepen your meditation.

Venerable Canda first encountered the Dhamma in India in 1996 and spent over a decade in Asia training in the Goenka vipassana tradition, later ordaining in Myanmar in 2006. Inspired by Ajahn Brahm’s teachings, she moved to Australia in 2012, received full bhikkhuni ordination in 2014, and began teaching. In 2016 she returned to England to establish the Anukampa Bhikkhuni Project, which now runs Anukampa Grove Bhikkhuni Monastery near Oxford.
