Experiencing death – with a Buddhist view, from 13.00 – 15.00.
Teaching by Anne Vanem, board member of DNBF.

The spiritual leader of the Norwegian Buddhist Association, Ajahn Nitho, has challenged us on the board to teach at the monthly joint gatherings at Vital.
I have so far not seen myself as a Buddhist teacher, but a long-time practitioner – senior Buddhist.
On June 17, my birthday, my dad had a violent heart attack. This was the start of four intense weeks of wondrous, transforming, and beautiful journey to his death. A journey through peace, happiness, and freedom.
On the morning of my dad’s funeral day, 24.7.26, I woke up – and felt that I was ready to accept Ajahn Nitho’s challenge. The theme was just as clear – it had to be something about death.
I experience living in a culture and zeitgeist, where death as a phenomenon is not very visible, often considered frightening, meaningless and something you keep at a distance in your life. Fortunately, Buddhist theory and practice invite something different!
