Welcome to a weekend retreat with Ajahn Nitho in Stockholm!

Give yourself a nice end to the year with a weekend in peace and quiet. During this retreat, you will have the opportunity to immerse your meditation in a friendly, safe and relaxed environment. Through medium-length sessions (45-60 min) and discussions, you will gain practical experience with meditation and the opportunity to immerse yourself in topics such as metta, the noble eightfold path and gradual training.

All teaching is given in English, registration is required and the price is SEK 750. On this retreat you have to arrange your own accommodation.

Whether you are new or experienced, you are most welcome!

Friday, Saturday and Sunday

We start on Friday 4th of December with a few hours in the evening, then all Saturday and Sunday:

  • Friday evening at 18.00-20.30
  • Saturday at 10.00-18.00
  • Sunday at 10.00-17.00

Equipment

The premises have some chairs, yoga mats and seat cushions, but feel free to bring your own equipment so that you can sit comfortably all weekend.

Food

Tea, coffee and snacks are available for everyone. Bring your own lunch, or eat out.

    The first longer retreat in Sweden was at Finnhamn, in the archipelago outside Stockholm. The Swedish group, together with DNBF, invited bhikkhuni Vimala as an instructor together with Nitho.

    The Eightfold Path, and hindrances in meditation was the theme in Stockholm February 2025.

  • Tuesday, 19. November 2024

    Johanneshov in Stockholm was the district, Kroppsverkstan was the center, and 30 people came to join a weekend retreat. Bhikkhuni Vimala also made the trip from Belgium.

  • Thursday, 16. May 2024

    On the weekend of 11th and 12th of May 2024, DNBF was in Stockholm for the first time to teach basic meditation and mindfulness. We had found Hälsans Hus by the old town - close to the city center and with fantastic views.

Previous retreats internationally

    The annual retreat at Venabu was arranged in April 2026, and all 60 participants got to see the last remnants of the snow in the mountains, as well as inspiration and good opportunities for practice.

    A Norwegian-language silent longer retreat for those with little experience was the goal, and so it was. We also wanted to build experience with filming the instructions given, while the Northern Lights set the scene outdoors.

    The 9-day retreat in Lammi, Finland, exceeded all expectations for the 25 participants, and there was both a gold medal and a laurel wreath for the two instructors Ajahn Mudito and Ajahn Nitho.

    We had more than 50 registered for the Venabu retreat in the spring of 2025, and since spring came early and Venabu was free of snow, there was also the opportunity for a trip and practice out in nature. You can also find the teaching here.

    From the opposite side of the planet, the retreat's instructor Bhante Sujato came by plane to Oslo, and he was transported straight to the mountains to rest and overcome jet lag, before the retreat at Venabu started.

    49 participants from 9 countries met at Venabu for meditation and inspiration for 8 days - nice weather, lots of meditation, inspiration, smiles and joy, as well as good opportunities for skiing or walking for fresh air.
